The Annual Scholars' Conference 2024
The Annual Scholars’ Conferences brings together 90 postgraduate and LLB scholars from across southern Africa to inspire and support one another to find new ways to connect and collaborate. Now more than ever southern Africa needs spaces like these that allows its thought leaders and activists to join forces to address its pressing challenges.
The theme this year, “The Power of Us” emphasizes connection and solidarity, while “10 Years of Building Together” highlights the continued collaborative efforts of Canon Collins scholars and alumni. This year’s conference showcases scholars’ and alumni’s remarkable achievements and celebrates their transformational work across the region.
It provides a forum for creative interdisciplinary debate and catalyses collaboration and continued activism for social justice transformation.

Our world is in crisis. It needs committed change makers to bring their best forward. 23 scholars and alumni submitted their initiatives to the Change Maker Award. Alumni and Scholars voted and six projects have been shortlisted. The top six projects have created short videos to present their project to the conference delegates. On Saturday, delegates will submit their votes at the Hotel Reception. We will count the votes on Sunday morning and at the end of the conference, the top three winners will be announced.
