Thembelihle Myeza
Biography
Thembelihle Myeza is a MSc (Med) in Physiology at Wits, investigating the association between galectin-3 and NKCC-2 in cardiac dysfunction using an adenine-induced chronic kidney disease rat model. She holds a Bachelor of Medical Sciences in Physiology with distinction from UKZN and an Honours degree in Physiology from Wits. She is a laboratory student assistant, assisting with the coordination of undergraduate physiology practicals, and mentors high school students through community outreach programs at the Department of Physiology. She is passionate about improving cardiovascular health outcomes, particularly addressing the burden of cardiovascular diseases in African populations.
