Biography

Thandi Gumbi began her career in basic education, taking on various leadership roles from teaching to strategic management. She later worked in the nonprofit sector, wherein, in 2011, she earned a spot as a MACAIDS fellow. This HIV prevention leadership initiative was hosted by the Universities of California and New York, the Human Sciences Research Council and MAC Cosmetics’ MACAIDS programme. She is actively involved in higher education (lecturing and student support) and community work while pursuing her PhD in Adult Education at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Her passions include student support, adult and community education and development, poverty, unemployment and just peace.
