Biography
Sibusiso Tshuma, from Zimbabwe is a Publisher/Editor/Assistant Lecturer, who is passionate about promoting literacy and reading culture. She is doing her PhD with the University of Pretoria, where she is developing an Afrocentric Critical Racial-ethnic framework for trade books. She believes the framework will be a useful tool in improving reading in contexts of low-comprehension skill levels, as for example, among South African tween learners in South Africa, who have been performing badly in performance metrics like PIRLS, TIMSS and SACMEQ. Sibusiso runs a community library in her rural home in Plumtree and collects pre-loved books for rural schools.
