  • University of Pretoria, MA (LLM/MPhil) in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa

Biography

If there was any “human wrong” that Sanele has always longed to “right”, it is to bring an awareness to mental health problems particularly in the rural areas of Zimbabwe. The rights of the mentally ill seem to have been forgotten. Yes, there are hospitals designated to them, but there is a lack of proper support systems. Some are exposed to abuse and are neglected if they do not have loving families. It is her hope to get an opportunity to partake in the United Nations 2030 agenda of creating a world whereby 2030 everyone everywhere has someone to turn to regarding their mental health. The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres said that mental health is a neglected issue but key in achieving global goals.  The Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa course that she is doing is unique as it combines both practical and theoretical knowledge in the field of human rights.
