Ruwimbo Mutirwara

Biography

Ruwimbo Mutirwara is an ecologist who is passionate about implementing sustainable solutions to human-nature interactions, food security and climate change through dialogue, research and effective management of natural resources. She has an M.Sc in Nature Conservation, a Master’s in Development Policy, and has worked at SANParks, PDI South Korea and the UNFCCC. Ruwimbo is currently pursuing a PhD in Environmental Science and her study is looking at urban agriculture as a nature-based solution and climate change adaptation strategy in the Eastern Cape. She hopes to improve food gardening practices through local policy interventions for economic, social and ecological benefits.
