Biography

Phatsimo is a versatile researcher bridging the gap between natural and social sciences. She is pursuing a PhD in Environmental Science at Rhodes University. Her research integrates civic ecology, participatory methodologies and science communication to understand and illustrate the potential of community-led stewardship initiatives for environmental transformations. She aims to move beyond tokenistic engagement, empowering communities through knowledge co-development, capacity building and resource sharing. Phatsimo is passionate about cultivating caring scholarship where research excellence, personal well-being and engaged scholarship intersect to inspire a more compassionate and responsible academic community.
