Biography
Obert Bore is a Zimbabwean lawyer and legal researcher. Obert has been working on international trade and Chinese investments in Africa, natural resource governance and climate governance issues. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree (cum laude) from University of Venda, South Africa, and a Masters of Law (LLM) degree (with a distinction) in International Trade Law from the University of Cape Town. Before pursuing a career in environmental governance, Obert coordinated the alignment of Zimbabwe laws with the 2013 Constitution through working with different state and non-state actors. In 2018, he served as a researcher/clerk for the Chief Justice of Namibia, where he provided research support to judges and drafting of court judgments. His research interests are intra-Africa trade, intersections between trade and human rights, Chinese investments in Africa, and environmental law and climate governance. He hopes to promote good environmental and climate governance in Zimbabwe by influencing legislative and policy reforms. He is currently pursuing an LLM in Environmental Law and Governance.
