Biography
Nelson Khozomba studied for a Masters in Public Health Management and Leadership at the University of Sheffield from 2012 to 2013. He now works for a local Nongovernmental Organization, GAIA, in rural districts of Malawi. He is passionate about bringing health and social services closer to people, where about 80 per cent of the population have no health insurance. By providing technical support and lead in resource mobilisation, the organisation has a dedicated team of health workers providing health services and support to orphans and vulnerable children with scholarships for secondary education and nursing. To ensure the supported scholars cultivate a culture of giving back to society, the organisation provides smaller grants to enable alums to implement an improvement project that alleviates suffering and brings hope to the hopeless. Currently, with the support of scholar alums, Nelson is supporting a cervical cancer screening and management initiative in the rural district of Nsanje, where Cervical cancer is more prevalent. He is so passionate and geared to be a mouthpiece for the voiceless.
