Alex Gwaze is an educator and contemporary artist who works primarily through dialogic journalism, interactive media, and documentary arts. He is the founder of MUD Journal, an edutainment website that documents contemporary African arts and culture. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Film Studies at the University of Cape Town which examines Africa, popular culture, and social media. Alex hopes to amplify meaningful perspectives that can foster more nuanced constructions of Africanness in mainstream media. He believes conversation, collaboration, and inclusivity are key social tools needed to identify sustainable solutions for global issues.
