Mphatso Elias Ackim holds an MA in Economics from the University of Malawi and is currently a PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Pretoria. His PhD explores how unconventional monetary policies can play a crucial role for the envisioned single currency bloc in Africa, which is hoped to deepen economic integration, lower transactional costs, increase income, and alleviate the ultra poverty that millions live in. Currently, he is working as a Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist at Mzuzu University. Previously, he worked as a Public Finance Analyst at UNICEF, and as a Research Officer at UNDP. He is very passionate about the pan-African vision of an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa.
