Melvin Dirkse
Biography
Melvin Dirkse is pursuing a PhD in Education at UCT focusing on teacher mental health in the socially and economically challenged schools of Cape Town. He is a qualified mainstream and special ed. teacher with a MA in Counselling. Melvin is a serial collaborator and has contributed to the successful initiation and launch of the first Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies in South Africa in 2018 with the Department of Applied Legal Studies at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. He intends to influence education policy that supports appropriate psycho-social and mental health interventions for teacher and learner well-being.
