Biography

Makoena Thafeng is a social justice activist, who advocates for justice and equality especially for dementia sufferers in Lesotho. She completed her MA which focused on preventing violence against dementia sufferers in Lesotho and has collaborated with two NGOS that advocate for the rights and equality of vulnerable groups like dementia sufferers. Makoena is currently doing a PhD at Durban University of Technology and her research is on “Peace education training to reduce violence against dementia sufferers and families in Lesotho”. She is using a participatory methodology in conducting her research. She hopes to create awareness about dementia in Lesotho.
