Biography

Lineekela Hamunyela is a Ph.D. scholar, who strongly believes that children are agents of change toward a just society where democracy is valued as a fundamental human right for all. Her study takes a radical approach in evoking children’s voices and developing their leadership capacity. It is an intervention study which intends to disrupt the status quo of tradition-based policies and intolerable cultural practices that classify children (particularly in Africa) as second class citizens. She is a founder of “My voice, My future” a rural area-based youth club which focuses on children’s civics affairs. Through policies changes, she hopes to see a new world and more so, a new Africa in which children are both seen and heard.
