A lifelong teacher, Leah is intrigued by the [extra] ordinary interactions which unfold in history classrooms. As the dust settles on the ‘Miracle Dawn’ of 1994, so too does national history curriculum – already a ‘sanitised’ version of a complex and past – return to the centre of the social cohesion debate. Her PhD uses the professional and personal experiences of History teachers as a conduit through which she can draw broader conclusions about the intersection of History education and the politics of the state in contemporary South Africa.
