Biography

Kelly Kropman is an admitted attorney specialising in human rights. She fights for the marginalised, the forgotten and most vulnerable in our society. And she does it with grit,  determination and compassion. She has won several high-profile cases including a case against the City of Johannesburg and the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) on
behalf of 33 evicted “park dwellers”, with Johannesburg having to pay damages of R60,000 plus legal costs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kropman successfully challenged the Department of Employment and Labour to amend the regulations of the Temporary Emergency Relief Scheme (TERS) to allow for domestic workers and farm labourers to be able to
apply and benefit from this state assistance. She also works with the South African Guild of Actors to develop collective bargaining and safety standards within the film and television industry by presenting in parliament on certain bills and compiling applications for sectoral determinations with the Department of Employment and Labour.
