Katherine Sutherland
Biography
Katherine Sutherland, a UCT law graduate from Johannesburg, is passionate about administrative law and the right to basic education. She has worked as a researcher and in grassroots community engagement for over three years, and currently holds the position of provincial researcher at Equal Education. Katherine is doing an LLM in Public Law at the University of Cape Town on the topic of holding private actors who perform public services in the basic education sector accountable. She hopes to strengthen and inform South Africa’s regulation of the private sector and ensure that human, and specifically children’s rights, are upheld and protected in an increasingly privatised world.
