Biography
Joaquim Borges Gove is a Mozambican Ph.D. Music student at UCT. He hods a MMus in Music, specialising in Ethnomusicology, a BMus-Hons in Music, specialising in Musicology (UCT) and a Bachelors of Music from Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique. His main research interest is the decolonising and indigenising of music arts education, centering indigenous knowledge systems as key (re)sources for the construction of culture-sensitive knowledge. He is an activist for music arts education in Mozambique, where he engages with advocacy NGOs and through personal music teaching initiatives.
