Biography

Funwako is an Environmental Health expert with 30 years’ experience working in research and policy making. In 2012, he was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship to study for MSc Environmental Health at the University of Strathclyde, allowing him to upgrade his skills and knowledge in environmental and public health issues and to deal with complex environmental conditions affecting Swaziland. Funwako joined the Ministry of Health in Swaziland in 1991 and, since then has worked in Environmental Health at the local, regional and national level. He is currently the Ministry’s Principal Environmental Health Office.

Greatest Achievement

Being awarded the David Livingstone Centre for Sustainability (DLCS) prize for best MSc Environmental Health Dissertation.

Professional Interests

To take part in the establishment of a Food Safety Authority to coordinate, delegate, monitor and regulate food safety activities in Swaziland.
