Biography

Zimbabwean-born South African writer and human rights activist Elinor Sisulu combines training in history, English literature, development studies and feminist theory from institutions in Zimbabwe, Senegal and the Netherlands. She has been involved in the Southern African liberation movements throughout her life.

Elinor returned to South Africa in 1991 after 26 years in exile. She is active in arts and literary organisation. In 2016 Elinor was awarded an honorary PhD in recognition of her interdisciplinary work and commitment to social change.
