Biography
Tackling energy poverty and the climate crisis by developing and scaling innovative green energy solutions in developing and emerging economies.
Dr Zalengera leads the delivery of the National Transformative Energy Program in Malawi. He has been involved in development of on-grid and distributed renewables (for communities, institutional, agriculture value chain, and water supply) in Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Ethiopia.
His PhD led to the implementation of 1 megawatt and 300 kilowatt of solar power plants on Likoma and Chizumulu Island, respectively.
Dr Zalengera is the Founding Director of the Omache Foundation, which provides support for maternal and newborn care in Malawi complementing government’s funded health care services.
