Biography

Christy Chitengu is a human rights lawyer specialising in constitutional impact litigation. Christy holds B. A and L.L.B degrees from the University of Johannesburg and will pursue an Honours Degree in Gender Studies at the University of Pretoria. Christy’s lived experience of discriminatory nationality laws inspired her advocacy effort against statelessness and led her to join the Global Movement Against Statelessness as its co-lead. Through her Honours in Gender Studies, she will explore gender-discriminatory nationality laws to raise awareness of the intersection of gender discrimination and statelessness.
