Biography

Catherine is Partnership and Development Manager at the Canon Collins Trust. The Trust’s mission is to advance social justice in southern Africa by building, supporting and connecting strong communities of ethical leaders, activists and organisations who collectively contribute to positive change. Part of that work includes establishing a social justice alliance of civil society and higher education and a transdisciplinary framework for social justice research. Catherine is responsible for developing and managing strategic partnerships to support that alliance locally and internationally. This includes curating influential thought leadership communication in social justice research. Catherine Sofianos has worked in development and communication for 20 years. She is a pioneer and visionary at heart and is passionately committed to using her skills to influence social change. She is a widely published thought leader and an award-winning writer and filmmaker. She has a Master’s in Applied Linguistics from the University of Cape Town, a pending master’s in Film and Television from the University of Witwatersrand and numerous short courses. including Life Writing from the University of Oxford.
