Biography

Bronwyn February is a Master’s student at the University of Cape Town, focusing on gang disengagement and the role of masculinity in the perpetuation of violence. Her research aims to critically examine the intersectionality of systemic inequality, marginalised identity, and societal violence by employing activism as a vital lens to challenge and advance academic discourse. Bronwyn views her work in activism not only as a theoretical stance but essentially as a lived commitment to the discourse of equitable social justice. With extensive experience in community organising and youth development around the Cape Town metropole, she seeks to integrate her passion for activism with sports and youth mentorship. She aims to consolidate academic theory and grassroots activism to foster youth-led sustainable change.
