Biography

Abigail Nthuba is an attorney from Botswana; her work is grounded in the conviction that women’s economic empowerment requires dismantling systemic barriers, such as gender-based violence. Her organisation, Gender Justice Advocacy and Litigation Centre, provides free legal aid to women in GBV cases. Abigail was a Leadership and Advocacy for Women in Africa fellow at Georgetown University, where she earned an LLM and is a PhD candidate at Wits University. Her doctoral thesis examines and addresses gender inequalities and digital harms undermining African women’s participation in digital trade. She seeks to influence gender-responsive policy reform and dismantle barriers restricting women’s economic agency.
