Meet our Scholars' Scholar 2022 Nonkululeko Faith Busika

Our Scholars' Scholar 2022

CONGRATULATIONS Announcing 2022 Scholars’ Scholar Nonkululeko Faith Busika! Nonkululeko is doing her PhD at Wits in Drama Therapy. Her work with refugee and asylum children and their parents seeks to heal a traumatised community in ways that affirm their culture and identity. The Scholars’ Scholar Award is the Trust’s most prestigious scholarship collectively funded by our alumni. It is given to someone who embodies and can meaningfully contribute to the vision of an open and just society.

Commenting on why the alumni selected Nonkululeko from some very stiff competition, Precious Simba said: “Nonkululeko exudes the passion for social justice that I recognise in all Canon Collins Scholars. It’s not just a passion for drama therapy. Her discipline is only a conduit to reach people and help people. What made her outstanding is the level of execution in her application. This is someone who is not just hoping for a better world for marginalised migrants: she has a plan and is working that plan.”
