Malealea: Reflections from RMTFs first Scholar
Gillian Attwood’s PhD in Education (2002-2005) focused on how teaching literacy could be combined with a community empowering approach to development. She chose Malealea, a remote Lesotho valley, to do her action research. The PhD seeded all sorts of learning and development initiatives in Malealea’s fifteen villages. In February 2020, we had a chance to sit with Ntate Thabang and his wife Lydia. Ntate Thabang participated in a learning circle and in 2004 started a farming business.
