Building Community through Writing
The Canon Collins Writing Group
The CCT Writing Group meets online daily from 8h30-10h00. This dedicated time serves as a nurturing space for individuals to bolster each other’s writing endeavours, exchange ideas and experiences, and foster meaningful connections. Our collaborative efforts aim to combat the sense of isolation that frequently accompanies postgraduate work.
At the beginning of December, 15 members of the Writing Group met in-person for a 3 day Writing Retreat, with very positive feedback received. Some of this is shared below:
“The Retreat has been a novel experience for me. It brought on much joy being around fellow writers. It’s easy to feel all alone on this writing journey, but this group filled that gap. I am grateful to be a part of this writing family, and share the judgement-free, safe space, free from the usual pressures that compromise the quality of the writing process.”
“I have enjoyed the space to exchange ideas and experiences with others, to think in new ways about how my work might intersect with others in very different fields and to learn from the experience of sharing their voices, and ideas beyond academia. It has also been lovely to build community with a smaller group.”
“The group gives me motivation and accountability. It helps me to get out of my own head, to be more compassionate with myself as I bring curiosity and receive encouragement from those around me.”
