A Letter from our new CEO, Stuart Craig

I am delighted and honoured to have the opportunity of greeting you as the new CEO of the Trust.  I joined the Trust from Comic Relief and spent the first two weeks absorbing as much as possible from the incomparable Sandy Balfour, whose last day with us was 15th September.  If you have had the privilege of meeting Sandy you will know what an important role he has played, and that he leaves the Trust in good shape after five years at the helm. Sandy will be sorely missed but we wish him well as he returns to life as a student to undertake a Masters in History.

This month the Trust welcomes to the UK 16 new Canon Collins scholars from various countries in southern Africa, who will be starting their courses in the coming weeks.  If you have supported the Trust financially in the last year or so – and thank you for your contribution – you can be sure that your money is supporting those who have passed the most rigorous screening and selection process, resulting in scholarships only for those most likely to make a significant difference to southern African society. They represent less than 1% of those who applied for scholarships last year, and so are very special members of the Trust.

If you have not already done so, please sign up to our newsletter to keep in touch with the Trust and our work in southern Africa.

with best wishes,

Stuart Craig
