The Thekgo bursary scheme was created in 2011 by a small group of friends who felt strongly about the plight of first year students at South African universities struggling to pay their registration fees. The bursary scheme extends a supportive hand towards initial registration fees for new students until they have found out more about available funding opportunities within the university system.
