Leigh Day is a law firm working for people in the United Kingdom, and across the globe, who have been injured, discriminated against or had their human rights abused. It has strong links with Africa, and like us, they believe that education is the key to achieving social justice.

The first project that the firm established, in 2000, was to set up law scholarships in conjunction with the Canon Collins Trust and the University of the Western Cape. This now includes scholarships for law students at the historically disadvantaged University of Fort Hare in the Eastern Cape. The scholarships are to enable a number of disadvantaged students to study law in South Africa each year and cover their university fees for the duration of their studies.

With a shared commitment to social justice, our collaboration has been fruitful, enabling more than 80 students to complete their law degrees.
