Ntokozo Yingwana

Biography
Ntokozo hails from the township of Hambanathi in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. She holds a B.Journ from Rhodes University and studied for an Honours in Social Sciences, Gender and Transformation at the University of Cape Town with a Canon Collins scholarship. Serving as Advocacy Officer at the Sex Worker’s Education and Advocacy Taskforce, Ntokozo utilized her journalism skills to advance for Human Rights protections for sex workers by bringing the issue into mainstream media. She came to the UK in 2014 to study at the University of Sussex for an MA in Gender and Development and whilst there presented at the Decriminalization of Sex Work Evidence Symposium organized by the English Collective of Prostitutes, at the House of Commons. Alongside studying for her PhD in Migration and Displacement, Ntokozo is also the Community and Research Uptake Officer at the African Centre for Migration and Society, University of the Witwatersrand, where she communicates the Centre’s research to policymakers.
