Biography

Jenna Arendse is an environmental artist, MFA candidate at the University of Cape Town, and advocate for climate justice whose work challenges traditional artmaking to create a more inclusive, sustainable world. In 2025, she served as an assistant lecturer at UCT and exhibited widely, including at Glen Carlou Gallery and the Michaelis Galleries. As a painter, sculptor, and videographer, Jenna works with seaweed pigments—transforming an undervalued resource into art with a sustainable footprint. Her practice is committed to empowering underrepresented and underprivileged communities by making art more accessible and driving tangible social and ecological change.
