Biography

Born in the Eastern Cape, fondly known as ‘eMaxhoseni’ by migrant labourers, Lithalelanga carries the cadence of rural South Africa in her storytelling. As a film scholar and educator under the South African School of Motion Picture, Media, and Live Performance (AFDA), she believes cinema can heal, resist, and reimagine who we are. Her BA Hons. explored how Slow Cinema techniques can shape post-apartheid South African narratives. Now pursuing an MFA, she intends to study how stillness and montage can evoke queer memory and belonging. Through teaching and film, she seeks to nurture voices that restore balance and visibility to African cinema.
