Biography
Gavin Krastin is a PhD candidate in Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Cape Town. His academic, research and professional interests centre on live art performance, curatorial practice, social justice and alternative infrastructures of care within the creative economy. An award-winning performance artist, curator, and educator, he has lectured at the University of Cape Town and Rhodes University, and he founded the Live Art Arcade, a national non-profit platform supporting emerging interdisciplinary artists. Gavin hopes to contribute to more equitable, inclusive and sustainable cultural ecologies in South Africa through research-led curation, teaching and cultural leadership.
