Let them dance-A poem

July 18, Remembering Nelson Mandela!

Let them dance
Around our open graves
Our bodies much alive
As the walking dead
Stalwarts of a movement
Moving backwards

Let them dance
Around our open graves
Singing the terrorists are dead
We have finally defeated them
Holding the Freedom Charter high
Though deeply compromised

Let them dance
Around our open graves
Whilst we walk amongst them
Being pointed and laughed at
Us being the barefoot hero’s
Constitutional hero’s – what a shame

Let them dance
And celebrate the living dead
AMA-comrades – men and women of
Oliver Tambo
Nelson Mandela
Albertina Sisulu
their brave ancestors
To be forgotten as script

Let them dance
And fall into their own graves
Long after we are dead
Calling our names
Asking for forgiveness
Recognising this day
When they danced
And danced
And danced
As if there is no tomorrow…
