Biography
Matshidiso Lencoasa is a public finance analyst at SECTION27 with a focus on how South Africa’s budget can build an economy that works for all and improves people’s everyday lives.
She advocates for budget decisions that improve basic education, public healthcare, and advance economic justice, ensuring public money reaches classrooms, clinBCom and communities. She advises Parliament, government, and the public on how South Africa raises revenue, spends public funds, and manages debt in ways that put people first.
She is the former Chairperson of the Budget Justice Coalition and serves on several fiscal governance platforms, including Parliament’s Public Participation Working Group and National Treasury’s Fiscal Openness Accelerator Advisory Group.
A Mandela Washington Fellow (Cornell University), Mandela-Sussex Scholar, and Canon Collins alum, she completed her Master’s at the University of Sussex and BCom in Accounting Sciences (CA stream) from the University of the Witwatersrand.
