Sara Ekondo is a passionate advocate for sustainable food security in Africa. She holds a BSc in Construction Studies and a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying. Sara founded Awana Foods, an agro-processing start-up that sources excess produce from smallholder farmers and prolongs their shelf-life through value addition and food preservation. She believes reducing the economic losses of producers boosts their production confidence and promotes steady availability of food products on the continent. Sara is currently pursuing a Masters of Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation, which she hopes will help promote a culture of value exchange within Africa and enable sustainability.
